Itinerary

 

Day 1 : Arrive at Istanbul and transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2 : You will visit Jewish neighborhood, Galata.You will see the Galata tower built by the Genoese in 1303. Visit the local synagogues, Neve Shalom and the Askenazy. After lunch you will enjoy the wonders of the Hippodrome Square where chariots races took place during the Roman period, The Blue Mosque ( Sultanahmet Mosque) famous for its blue tiles and six minarets, Hagia Sophia Museum,a world heritage site built in the 6th century. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 3 : Today you will the famous Spice Market and transfer to the pier. We take a cruise along the Bosphorus. After having lunch in a fish restaurant with the beautiful view of Bosphorus we will drive to visit Topkapi Palace,the resident of Ottoman sultans for centuries.You will visit Grand Bazaar in the late afternoon. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 4 : You will visit Balat neighborhood where you will see the star of David appearing on building facades. Visit the 15th Ahrida and the Yanbol Synagogues. Visit the Jewish home for the elderly along the Golden Horn. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 5 : You may walk to the synagogue to attend morning Shabbat services. The day is at leisure. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 6 : Transfer to Istanbul Ataturk airport for the flight to Izmir. Arrive at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport and transfer to the hotel. Half day in leasure. Overnight in Izmir.

Day 7 : Today you will visit the world famous Ionian city of Ephesus and the House of Virgin Mary, where she spent her final days. After traditional lunch, you will visit the Basilica of St. John, Isa Bey mosque, The Artemision and famous Ephesus Museum in the afternoon. Overnight in Izmir.

Day 8 : Today you will visit the Senora Synagogue (if possible) and Havra Street in Izmir where Jewish immigrants settled in 1492. You'll continue on to Sardes, where you'll visit one of the important historical cities of western Anatolia , the capital of the Lydian State. Sardes has rich architectural works reflecting its magnificent past. You'll see the Temple of Artemis , the mint house where coins were made , the gold purifying center , shops , gymnasium and the synagogue which was once one of the largest in history , built first in the 4th century BC. Overnight in Izmir .

Day 9 : Transfer from hotel to Izmir Adnan Menderes airport for homebound flight . Overnight in Istanbul.
